What's TCM
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
TCM is an ancient Asian medicine based on the principles of Yin & Yang. It's believed that any disease is caused by an imbalance of those two profoundly different but nevertheless highly interdependent forces. TCM consists of several disciplines.
Acupuncture is the most popular and a well established treatment method in the Western world. Numerous acute and chronic conditions can be successfully treated with acupuncture. To apply acupuncture we use tiny needles and stimulate different acupuncture points on meridians (channels) that cover the entire body like a network.
Research has found that acupuncture is effective in treating a range of disorders, including:
Digestive - colitis, constipation, diarrhoea, gastritis, ulcers.
Emotional - anxiety, depression.
General - chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), giving up smoking, muscle injuries, obesity, stress management, tiredness, travel sickness.
Gynaecological - heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, menopausal symptoms, pre-menstrual syndrome.
Musculo-skeletal - back pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tennis elbow, whiplash.
Neurological - Bell's palsy, carpal tunnel syndrome, headache, Ménière's disease, migraine, pain, paralysis, shingles.
Respiratory - asthma, bronchitis, common cold, hay fever.
Vascular - haemorrhoids, high blood pressure, varicose veins.
Herbal medicine includes the usage of an extensive range of single substances derived from herbal, mineral or animal sources. The products are based on the guidelines of CITES ( Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). It is an international agreement between governments with the aim to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. The medicines are combined to a customised formula. We use a range of products in liquid form. They are very easy to administer or ingest and have a fast absorption. They have a pleasant taste and are liked not only by adults but also by children. All of our liquid extracts are manufactured according to GMP-Europan standards and are tested for correct botanical identity and potential contamination.
A snapshot of conditions also typically treated with Acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine includes:
- insomina & fatigue
- IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome)
- common cold & influenza
- chronic headaches
- skin disorders
- fluid retention
- allergies
- rheumatoid & osteoarthritis
- infertility
- impotence & prostate disorders
- disorders associated with menopause.
In addition we also use Moxibustion, cupping and massage. With each consultation, we will discuss dietary needs and live style changes if appropriate. A combination of treatment methods based on individual's needs is applied. For more information, please contact the
